The wife of the former military governor of old Western Region, Brigadier General Oluwole Rotimi (rtd), abducted 17 days ago has been released.

She was said to have been released in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, late on Thursday. Police spokesman in Oyo State, Ayodele Lanade, confirmed the release.

According to him, Titilayo, the wife of the retired senior military officer was released in Ijebu-Ode and “because it was late, she was advised to go to the nearest police station in the town to incident her release.
“She only returned to Ibadan on Friday morning. She has now been reunited with her family. She was abducted on December 3 at the entrance of her company, AOK Logistics, along Alakia Road in Ibadan. Police claimed her driver had watched the kidnappers reverse their car, into which they had pushed the retired general’s wife and driven away, without any form of resistance.

Barely three days after her abduction, the kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of N200 million from her family. It could not be confirmed if the ransom was paid before her eventual release.
Over 10 persons comprising mostly workers of her company including the driver were held by the police and are still being held as at press time.

Lanade disclosed that the suspects would still be in police custody pending the conclusion of investigation. The police were working on the theory that the abduction might have been carried out by the workers to achieve a yet to be identified purpose.
“We found out that there is a rift between the woman and her workers because she was said to have owed them three months salary and there was a kind of agitation from the aggrieved workers.”
