OJB’s Health Update: Confusion Trails Donations By Colleagues - "We’ve not received the amount of donation being reported" — Nomoreloss

When the news of one of Nigeria’s talented music producer, OJB Jezreel’s ailing health filtered into town through the social media some weeks back, many people did not believe it. In fact, many had thought it was one of the many unconfirmed reports that usually emanate from sources that couldn’t be trusted.
Contrary to reports which went viral on the social media, especially on twitter during the week, that a substantial amount of money had been donated by some celebrities in the music industry to save ailing music producer cum singer, OJB Jezreel who needs urgent kidney transplant in India that would cost him approximately $100,000 to survive, R reliably gathered that the purported amount donated by some of the frontline artistes in the industry was not true.
Reports had emerged on several blogs and twitter on Friday night that the duo of P Square and Kukere crooner, Iyanya who visited the ailing producer at his house and donated the sum N6million
.
R’s investigation however revealed that though donations were made by the artistes, they were far less than the figures that were reported on the internet.
Some unconfirmed reports also had it that the likes of 2face, D’banj, Wizkid and other notable artistes, as of Friday, had donated a huge amount of money.
But in an exclusive telephone interview with R at exactly 7:30 p.m. on Friday, the Chairman of Save OJB group, Muiwa Osinuga, also known as Nomoreloss, rubbished the reports that the group had received the said amount donated by the artistes.
Livid Nomoreloss said “I don’t want to mention names because of the delicate situation at hand, but I can tell you categorically that we have not received any amount in the tune of the quoted figures. Some of the guys have been making donations since the news of OJB’s ailing health was made public, but it was far less than what we have been hearing. I don’t know where the figures were coming from. We have not received that kind of money from anybody and it sad that some people had been going about saying we have got the donation we needed to save OJB.”
Nomoreloss also said he was sad that people had been increasing the figures of the money that the group had received so far, which had subsequently made it impossible for government and other well-meaning Nigerians to assist OJB.
“I am telling you on a very good note that some well-meaning Nigerians who could have donated the money were not forthcoming because of the conflicting donations that had gone viral on the social media, especially on BlackBerry messenger,” he said.
This development was said to have angered OJB’s fans as they took to twitter to voice their discomfort about the inability of some of his colleagues in the entertainment industry, especially those who have the wherewithal, to raise the money and save the producer from dying, rather than wait for him to die and then jump into the studio to record an ‘All-Star album’ in his memory.
Many people, however, wondered why OJB’s colleagues could not come together to raise the money, considering their posh lifestyles.
One BBM message that was particularly widely circulated during week stated:
“If Wizkid can damage a N15m Porsche Panamera car in less than two months; if D’Banj can put on a N3m suit just for a show; if Davido can refer to a N10m endorsement deal as chicken feed; if P Square can buy just a property for N400m, if Don Jazzy can pop a $1.5Million champagne for just a bottle - and the many others, why can’t they put heads together and donate just $100,000 (N15m) in just 24 hours? It’s obvious there’s beef in the industry. If all these big artistes don’t save OJB Jezreel with their money, Sango kills anyone who goes to studio to produce ‘Tribute to OJB.’
In a swift reaction to the message which did not go down well with some artistes, P Square’s Peter reacted to the backlash on his twitter handle, saying he was not shying away from helping his colleague in the music business. “OJB Jezreel, you’ve got our support and prayers. We can’t afford to lose you. Thanks peeps for also showing love for a brother,’’ he tweeted.
Mavin Records CEO, Don Jazzy, was also not left out.  He said OJB’s fans on twitter should not wait for celebrities to help before they do the needful. He tweeted, “Guys, do not wait for celebrities alone. Anything you can do also can help save OJB. May God help us all.”
In his reaction, Vector, who visited OJB at his Gbaja, Surulere residence, disclosed that he appreciated people’s views on OJB’s health, but cautioned them against vilifying his colleagues.
“We are doing what we can do, but we don’t have to make it public. We appreciate those who want us to speak out about how much we are donating, but it does not have to be that way”, he said.
Also speaking in thesame vein, Limpopo crooner, Kcee, said he was going to support OJB, but would not disclose his intention. “I don’t think talking about figures would help, I just want to help a good brother and I know some of my colleagues are equally thinking in that direction”.
Nomoreloss, however, announced through his Twitter handle that they were yet to raise the $100,000 needed for the kidney transplant. He also warned the public to disregard any rumours to the contrary.
He also said there would be a concert to raise fund for the operation, saying that the concert was being organised by the Beat FM.
