Another person has been reportedly killed while attempting the ice bucket challenge. Sergio Cardozo reportedly died on camera while doing the ice bucket challenge with two fellow friends.
In the video, Sergio is seen sitting on a chair with a helmet on as two friends are holding a bucket from a balcony. The two friends are holding a plastic trash bin full of ice water and drop the whole trash bin on his head. Many people are referring to the video as an accident as the two friends were only supposed to drop the water on him, not the whole bin.

However, in the video, Sergio is seen wearing a helmet which can mean dropping the bin on his head was planned. Unfortunately, the helmet did not save him from the fatal neck injury Sergio suffered. In the video, Sergio seems to be knocked unconscious immediately after the bin is dropped on his head. It has been revealed that Sergio actually died on spot rather than simply being knocked unconscious. Watch actual video below:
For those who are not familiar with the ice water challange, you basically pour a bucket of ice water over your head with the objection of withstanding the intense cold. The rule of the game is to complete the challange and then challange someone else on video. The challenge has gotten really popular on social media after celebrities began doing the challange. Celebrities like Cristiano Ronaldo, Jack Black, Wiz Khalifa, Ricky Martin, Dave Batista, and any more, have posted videos of themselves carrying out the challenge.
Investigators are currently investigating the death and if the whole bin being dropped on his head part of the plan. “This challenge is getting out of hand” says social media analyst Jane Mederich, “The actual challenge of simply pouring ice water over your head is pretty safe, but people are going as far as dropping bins full of water over their heads and even pouring boiling water over their heads”.
