Beauty Hack: Putting Lipstick Under Your Eyes Conceals Dark Circles

Amazing beauty hack: Putting lipstick under your eyes gets rid of dark circles
A few weeks ago, beauty blogger Deepica Mutyala posted a video on YouTube showing how you could use lipstick to cover up dark circles.
The DIY beauty hack has now been viewed by over 3.7 million people and is sweeping the beauty blogging world.
Although there are plenty of products on the market that promise to disguise those late nights, Deepica points out that there’s no point spending more money when you can simply use something that’s already in your makeup bag.

Namely, lipstick. Yes, she puts orangey-red lipstick under her eyes, before concealer, to correct discolouration. And it’s not as crazy as it sounds.
Celeb makeup artist Oonagh Connor told MailOnline: ‘Dark circles around the eyes tend to be blue or purple in tone. When you look at a colour wheel, those shades sit directly opposite the corally oranges, which means that the lipstick should help neutralise the darkness.’
She adds: ‘It’s similar to the way in which people with very red tones in their skin are advised to use a green colour-correcting cream to cancel out the redness, because green and red are opposite each other on the colour wheel.’
For Deepica, a really bright orange-red lippy works (she uses MAC So Chaud), but for lighter skin tones Oonagh recommends more of a coral tone than a bright orange.
You apply it with a makeup brush on all dark spots and then pop your concealer and usual makeup over the top.
And, hey presto, the boss will never know you were out till 3am last night. Genius.
