Video: Gov Fashola Blames President Jonathan For Lekki Robbery Says He Diverted Police And Security Personnel

According to him he says GEJ actually diverted all the police officers and security pesonnel for himself as he visited the state and that was what caused The Robbery yesterday

Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola, has said that the robbery incident in Lagos, Thursday evening, could have been averted if enough police officers were available.
About six people, including three police officers, were killed by about half a dozen armed robbers who stormed a bank on Admiralty Way in Lekki Phase 1.

The robbers escaped in a speedboat after their operation, several witnesses recount.
“Perhaps what would be would have been, but it’s sad to see all our security personnel, all our security vehicles deployed to protect one man,” said Mr. Fashola, who spoke at an event, An Evening with Buhari and Osinbajo, in Lagos.
“All the vehicles we bought for the police were stationed to receive the President in Lagos. Those policemen have children and tonight their mothers will have to explain to them why daddy is not coming home.”
Mr. Fashola requested a minute of silence for the deceased officers.
Mr. Jonathan visited the Nigerian Stock Exchange in Lagos on Thursday to launch a new online mobile platform, X-Gen, to increase global investment.
Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who is Mr. Jonathan’s main challenger in this month’s election, was also in the state to meet a gathering of young people at a programme tagged, Secure the Future: Discussing the Future with the Youth.
The APC candidate was, however, absent at a later event where he was scheduled to meet young professionals and entertainment personalities.
In 2011, while receiving six patrol gun boats from the Lagos State government, Yakubu Alkali, then Commissioner of Police, said that the boats would be deployed to Marina, Apapa, Ijora, Atlas Cove, Lekki Phases 1 and 2, Ibafon, Epe, and Badagry.
“It is only hoodlums who want to commit suicide that will dare take on the Marine Police,” Mr. Alkali said at the time.
“These gun boats are not only high-tech, they are fast, highly maneuverable and deadly; faster and deadlier than anything the hoodlums can ever boast of.”
