PDP Jittery Over Former Secretary’s Intent to Testify At Ongoing Army Probe Panel on Alleged Rigging During Ekiti Guber Elections

The former secretary of the PDP in Ekiti state is set to testify against the party at the ongoing probe into the alleged rigging during the gubernatorial election that ushered in Ayo Fayose as governor.

There is disquiet in Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its expelled Secretary, Dr. Tope Aluko’s appearance before the army panel probing soldiers’ roles in the June 21, 2014 governorship poll, according to the Nation.

Aluko is believed to have travelled to Kaduna, venue of the sitting of the panel, led by Maj.-Gen. Adeniyi Oyebade, armed with what a source described as “very incontrovertible and incriminating evidence”.

Sacked PDP Secretary In Ekiti
The state executive committee of the party had on Friday expelled Aluko, the factional Acting Chairman, Mr. Tunde Olatunde, the auditor, Tunji Olanrewaju, and women leader, Busola Oyebode, for alleged anti-party activities.
However, Aluko, on Tuesday August 18, 2015, insisted that he remained the state secretary owing to the fact that the Idowu Faleye-led executive lacked the constitutional and moral rights to either suspend or expel him and others from the party.
Sources revealed that Aluko who was known to be Governor Ayodele Fayose’s closest ally during his struggle for PDP’s ticket, has been having some squabbles with Faleye, the governor’s anointed chairman of the party in the state.
