Teenager Allegedly Dies After Childbirth At Traditional Midwives "Elewe Omo"


According reports, Blessing Adenike Adeoye, 19, was taken to traditional midwives known in Yoruba as “elewe omo” probably because her Igando, Lagos-based parents couldn’t afford the cost of taking her to a proper hospital. She was the first of her parent’s 7 children.

She reportedly gained admission into Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), in 2015, the same year her boyfriend got her pregnant and she had no choice but to suspend her education in order to nurture the pregnancy. She died yesterday, shortly after giving birth to a baby boy
