We Will Announce Lagos Council Election Date Soon - LASIEC Boss


The Chairman of Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Ayotunde Philips (retd), has disclosed that date for local government election in the state would be announced soon to allow residents elect representatives that would fill the available offices.

Meanwhile, the Lagos state governor’s wife, Bolanle Ambode, Iyalode of Lagos, Bintu-Fatimah Tinubu and All Progressives Congress (APC) South-west women leader, Kemi Nelson, have urged women to rise up and participate in politics beginning from the council poll.


They spoke at 2016 edition of Iyalode host Lagos women held in Onikan axis of the state, which also had in attendance Justice Ishola Olorunnimbe (retd), ex-deputy governor of the state, Sinatu Ojikutu, Iyaoge of Lagos, Dr. Oprah Benson and others.

Philips said that she understand residents were concerned over continued delay in organizing the poll, but assured them that a new date would be announce soon.

She added that the commission is committed to ensure the election is free and fair, which had been their core responsibility.
