Watch Video: Tourists In Italy Film, Laugh And Made Racist Comments As An African Refugee Drowns In Venice’s Grand Canal

A 22-year-old Gambian, Mr Pateh Sabally was a victim of racist attack as scores of white tourists watched him drown in Venice's Grand Canal while they filmed, laughed and made racist comments. According to The Times UK, the white onlookers were heard saying 'go on back home' as Pateh struggled to stay above the icy water.

Another person was also heard yelling 'Africa'. However, it is reported that some people threw life boats at him but he made no efforts to grab them which prompted suggestions that he may have committed suicide.
Even more disheartening were the comments dropped on the site's twitter page after they published the story. See some of the comments below:

Scores of tourists watched an African refugee drown in Venice’s Grand Canal as onlookers filmed him on their phones, laughed and made racist remarks.

According to TheTimes.co.uk; as the 22-year-old Gambian, named Pateh Sabally, bobbed up and down in the icy waters of the city’s main waterway, someone shouted:

“Go on, go back home.”
In one video shot on a mobile phone and released on Italian websites, an unseen man yells “Africa” at the refugee and implores passengers on a passing water bus to throw life belts as Mr Sabally raises
his arms in the air before sinking.

Three lifebelts were thrown to him, but after rising to the surface, the man made no effort to reach them, prompting suggestions that he was committing suicide.

Even more sickening are these comments made on Twitter after the website tweeted the news.
