Despite rolling out N350m for Ibori’s Thanksgiving, Okowa Shun Event To Save Face

Delta State governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa stylishly avoided an appearance at a church thanksgiving service funded by the state government in celebration of the return of ex-convict James Ibori who just returned from the United Kingdom after serving a jail term for looting the state treasury.

According to a report by saharareporters, Governor Okowa allegedly released a whooping sum of three hundred and fifty million naira (N350,000,000) for the event. It was observed that Governor Okowa was conspicuously absent from the church service but was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Mr. Festus Ovie Agas,

However, an official of the state government confided in SaharaReporters that Okowa decided to stay away so as to pretend that the state government did not fund the jamboree celebrating a man who was jailed in the UK for looting the state treasury.

According to Saharareporters, the governor might still attend the reception, slated for later at Ibori’s mansion in Oghara, sources, however, stated he was advised to stay off both events to avoid suspicion.
