Armed Man 'Shot Dead By Police' After 'Driving Into Pedestrians' In Westminster - At Least Two Dead And A Dozen Hurt - Some With 'Catastrophic Injuries'

Parliament shooting: Man shot at Westminster bridge
Armed police opened fire and shot an intruder inside the grounds of the Houses of Parliament today after a car skittled into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, leaving at least 12 people splayed across the ground. Pedestrians and cyclists were hit by the 4x4 vehicle on the bridge before the man, said to have been Asian-looking and in his 40s, then smashed the car into railings outside Parliament

He jumped a gate and ran through into the front yard of the compound apparently waving a knife, before being shot by a police officer. Two people were seen being treated on the ground in New Palace Yard amid shouts and screams. An air ambulancelanded in Parliament Square and a regular ambulance came in through the front gates as medics rushed to help the injured people.

At least two people are dead after a terror attacker brought carnage to central London today, mowing down pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before attacking police with a knife in the grounds of the Houses of Parliament.

At least 10 people were been hit by a vehicle on the bridge after a 4x4 drove into pedestrians and cyclists before crashing into the gates of Parliament.
An intruder, described by a witness as 'middle-aged and Asian', then managed to break into the grounds of the Parliament and stabbed a police officer before he was shot and injured. The policeman is feared to have since died.
An hour after the attack, paramedics removed a man, thought to be the attacker, from the scene after extensive CPR. Another body appeared to have been left on the ground covered by a red blanket.
A doctor at St Thomas' Hospital has said one woman has died and a number of others have been hurt - including some with 'catastrophic' injuries.
Prime Minister Theresa May is said to have been bundled into a car by a plain-clothes police officer and driven quickly from the scene as the attack unfolded. She will chair a meeting of the Government's emergency Cobra committee tonight.
Scotland Yard said the attack, which comes a year to the day after the terrorist atrocities in Brussels, is being treated 'as a terrorist incident until we know otherwise'.
